A Village That Helps You Age in Place
South Whidbey at Home is built on one simple truth: it takes a village to age in place. By joining our village, older South Whidbey residents gain access to volunteer support, enriching educational opportunities, and meaningful social connections that make it easier to stay active, independent, and rooted in the community they love.
Whether you’re looking for a little help or are eager to lend a hand, we invite you to become part of the South Whidbey at Home village.
1. Connect
If you are 55+ and live on South Whidbey, you may be a good candidate for membership! Members gain access to a rich community, lively social events, and empowering educational opportunities that help keep life rich and full.

2. Pay It Forward
South Whidbey at Home volunteers are neighbors of all ages who believe in the power of a village. They generously share their time, skills, and companionship to support older adults, because a strong village cares for everyone, now and in the future.

3. Age In Place
We strive to create a community of care in which we take care of our own. Our primary mission is simple: support those aging in our community, enabling them to live healthy and rich lives where they can stay active, connected, and in charge.

Become a Volunteer
South Whidbey at Home volunteers can be people of any age who don’t mind helping an older neighbor. They are generous people who are happy to share their time and skills. They also understand the concept of “paying it forward” and want to ensure that SW@Home will be there for them whenever—if ever—they (or their older family members) need it.
“As a volunteer I can say without doubt that my Mom was right: The gift is to the giver. My interactions with Members of SW@Home have been heartwarming and interesting. I think we miss the richness of the many lives lived by some of our most isolated seniors if we don't interact. It's all to easy to become invisible, and a simple conversation lifts the veil and shows us our common humanity.”
